Welcome to the GCS Team, Andrew Prosser

By Stephanie Beaumont

We’re delighted to welcome Andrew Prosser, who has recently joined GCS Associates as a Non-Executive Director. With over four decades of experience in the construction industry, Andrew brings a wealth of knowledge, insight, and strong relationships to the team.

Q: Andrew, welcome to GCS Associates! Can you tell us a bit about your professional background?

Thank you! I’ve spent more than forty years in the construction industry, beginning my career with manufacturers in technical and commercial roles before moving into senior leadership positions. Most recently, I worked as Sales Director within the Builders Merchants sector, leading teams, driving growth, and building strong client partnerships.

Q: What excites you most about joining GCS Associates?

I’m really looking forward to working alongside my colleagues at GCS. The company’s values of honesty and integrity strongly align with my own. It’s great to join a proven, experienced, and successful team that’s genuinely committed to making a difference for our clients and their people.

I’m keen to add value through my industry experience, contacts, and relationships, helping clients navigate challenges, build stronger teams, and achieve their goals.

Q: What’s your approach to building strong client relationships?

For me, business is all about people. Having played sport throughout my life, I know success depends on teamwork and trust. I believe in being reliable, straightforward, and delivering on promises with no nonsense.

Relationships are built on knowledge, experience, and support. My goal is always to provide solutions, add value, and act as a mentor and trusted partner to clients.

Q: What do you think has been key to your success in talent acquisition?

It comes down to relationships and reliability. Understanding what clients truly need, their challenges, priorities, and pinch points, allows me to identify the right talent efficiently.

Ultimately, it’s about saving clients time while finding people who can make a genuine impact in their organisations.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I’m very family-oriented and love spending time with my children, grandchildren, and friends. Outside of that, I enjoy walking the dog, cycling, skiing, golf, rowing, travelling, and socialising.

Q: How do you see the talent acquisition needs of the construction supplies industry evolving?

I think more companies will focus on developing and nurturing their own talent through training, mentoring, and structured people development programmes. Spotting potential early and investing in individuals will be key to building sustainable teams and long-term success.

Q: What’s your vision for your role at GCS Associates?

My aim is to support Mike and the wider GCS team in growing our brand and strengthening our presence in the market. I want to help deliver effective, cost-efficient solutions for our clients that provide long-term value and growth.

Ultimately, I’m proud to be able to give back to an industry that has given me so much throughout my career by sharing my knowledge, experience, and passion for people.

Q: Anything else you’d like to share?

Since joining the recruitment sector, I’ve gained a real appreciation for the depth of work and dedication that goes into what GCS Associates does. The level of service, management, and attention to detail throughout every stage of the process, from initial brief to successful placement, is exceptional.

We provide a truly cost-effective, high-value solution for our clients, and I’m proud to be part of that.
